“I am a working dedicated musician and a patient passionate teacher. Throughout the years I’ve studied Music Theory, Jazz Improvisation, Ear training, Songwriting, Music Business, Jazz vocal Ensemble, Latin Jazz ensemble, Swing Band Ensemble, Music Production and Midi both at Sierra College and the Pasadena City college. I began singing at the age of 5 in church and continued to study through my teens under private instruction. At the age of 7, I began private instruction on the clarinet from the lead clarinetist of the Auburn civic Symphony. By age 11, I had taught myself to play piano and guitar and was writing my own songs. At age 13, after years in musical theater, I became interested in rock music and and started my own band. I played throughout high school and while also learning to play also the bass and the drums. I joined the jazz choir and learned to sight sing, while under private instruction of the high school music teacher. My senior year, I started to get interested in Jazz and picked up the tenor and alto saxophone. Soon after, I started up an eight-piece swing band and began arranging the horns and music. Through college I continued performing regularly and finally produced my first album at age 19.

After meeting my mentor’s of swing music (Royal Crown Revue) I was invited to perform regularly with them in Los Angeles at the famous Brown Derby. After moving to LA, I continued my studies at school under jazz great Bobby Bradford (played with Coltrane) and Latin king Bobby Rodriguez (known throughout Latin Jazz) as well as studying music business and production. It was then I started developing tastes in Afro Cuban and Reggae and started another group called Subway to Venus. This cross genre seven-piece band played all the clubs in Hollywood and surrounding areas. I produced another album with 15 original songs. One of which was featured in the Paramount Picture Film “Four Brother’s”.

After a year tour in Italy, I came back to focus on production and publishing, and finally teaching. My background is about as diverse as it comes. Blending an education from school and real life experience, I have found a comfortable career that pushes me to the limits of my abilities. Teaching has given me a chance to give something back to music. I see a reflection of myself in my students. Thirsty for knowledge, and excited to have the tools to create, I love to give back the gift that was given to me by so many amazing people in my past…Music.”
